Ever since I never meet any of there relatives.  My father told us that my Grandfather cheated by his brother thats the reason he migrated to Mindanao, Zamboanga del Sur, Pagadian City where I and my brothers and sister were born.  We never meet any one of them. Fanny Marie Garraton Martin.  We recently read an article about you in the Friday, May 29, 2009 edition of the "Puerto Rico Daily Sun," and it occurred to me that you may be of assistance to my non-profit agency:  VCA.  We exist to raise funds for arts and sports programs, new and existing, as a means of addressing the social problems with Viequense youth.  We are already in the process of forming a Pasa Fino Polo league.  Private funding on the island has proved nearly impossible as our tourism season was quite low this season.  All donations are tax deductible.  We seek to raise $320,000.  The funds will rehabilitate an historical building in Isabelle II, provide annual salaries for 5, allowing us to raise additional funds through grantwriting.  It will also enable my other corporation, Vieques Management group to train the unskilled for employment in the hospitality industry:  bussers, servers, dishwashers, cooks, security guards, landscaping, etc.

Funny story (to me at least). In the early 90s, I used to work at Nordstrom in Stonestown, SF.  Tracy came into my department with another gal and as I exclaimed, "ARE YOU..."  Tracy sort of froze and then I finished my sentence, "TWINS?"  She gave a sigh of relief and said, "No...we're sisters."  They had the same hair.  She came in looking for a scrunchy.  I went to the back stockroom to get one for her.  She also bought a knitted skull cap from me. 

I had no idea she was "the" Tracy Chapman even after I saw it on her Amex card.  Her middle initial is L.  At the time, I only remembered her original album where she had short hair.  I told the gals in my department after she left that I may have helped "the" Tracy Chapman.  They were so excited for me that I embellished my story, telling them I sang her Fast Cars song to her.  They knew I was lying at that point.  I can't even sing happy birthday.  We had a good laugh.  Tracy had beautiful hair and skin.

While most people, if asked who they would want to meet in their lifetime, would say something like Jesus, I would have enjoyed meeting Walt Disney. I am a former Cast Member from Walt Disney World and have been amazed how he would have thought, how he would have so much imagination in his head. Thinking about that, he seems larger than life and I bet he would have been a wonderful person to just sit and talk to and ask him what he was thinking about regarding animation, audio-animatronics, etc. I would have loved to been on the inside of his mind to see how it worked and how he got all his ideas. I am also amazed that no one would have never in all the years you have lived, would have heard anything about the Disney brand if it were not for a mouse! And as Walt had once said...

  "I hope we never lose sight of one thing, it was all started with just a mouse!"

  I truly enjoy remembering my time that I worked for Walt Disney World. although it was short lived, the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you Uncle Walt for your imagination, perserverance, dedication, and wisdom in making life much more enjoyable for all of us. You truly are AN AMERICAN ICON/HERO!
